50 Shades of Gay

Jeffery Self

2.76 AVERAGE

This was ok, a really short novel( I audio listened to it as its only 4 hours or so). The title is very lame as this could have been inspired by rather than directly named "50 shades...".Self could have been a bit more creative with it or they could rename it.... There's still time.
I liked the main Mcs Alex inner dialogue ( it was actually really on point and funny, His pop culture references and his talk of the LA gay scene was great) but Taylor was written extremely shallowly never quite getting under the skin of him.I wanted so much more of him, to be more fleshed out and real.

This was a 3* kinda novel. Ok to pass the time but not deep enough to warrant real consideration.

This is such a great read, and a real gay version of FIFTY SHADES OF GREY, but set in Hollywood. Love it!

When I saw the title of this book I clearly had to read it, mostly because at a party in December my friend Caroline was talking about 50 Shades of Gray and accidentally said this title and we both were like YES.

I have not read, nor do I intend to read, the original, but from what I’ve quickly researched they are pretty similar. I received a copy of this novel from the publisher and received no compensation for my honest response.

This was not a bad book, don’t get me wrong it wasn’t a great literary achievement either, but it wasn’t bad. I had a few issues with it, but I appreciated the refreshing writing style of the author and the tongue-in-cheek comments and countless pop-culture references that made me smile and or question why I’ve the social skills/knowledge of an 80-year-old southern woman.

What really helped with this book is that I was able to identify with the protagonist on some level, and isn’t that what you’re looking for in any book you read?

nah i just loved the gay version of „fifty shades of grey“!! It was a cute little story <3

Eh it was as expected.

At least the ending is slightly better.
emotional fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

This was a gay 50 Shades on speed. Everything moved so fast, and nothing was detailed other than how hot Taylor is. It felt more like the author read a bunch of reviews for the "original" book, instead of the book itself. There was even less character development and getting to know you than you'd expect. The tiny bit of growth at the end just wasn't enough. I just can't recommend this to anyone.

2.5 stars, actually ** review coming on 12th of April ** I am a sucker for happy endings and there were good things that actually make you enjoy the book and other nasty writing habits. I don't appreciate the fact that authors make too many references, I think it is an escape to actually describe something, also the reader probably miss half of it. It is a pity that this book tried to be a fanfiction, because I can tell that Mr. Self actually has pretty nice ideas and when he was not pasting E.L. James stuff, the book was pretty good.

As the title of the book is, it's based on the 50 Shades of Grey.  But much better.  I sis award-winning? No.  But is it funny and okay to listen (just use headphones please!).  I did find how the contract was never signed but activity still engaged so not truly respecting BDSM.   Still a better love story than Twilight or Grey books.  Had to say that.

The plot is a similar set to 50  shades of grey.  Sub in for an interview and there from the beginning special interest is taken and the pursuit begins.  The hard part is the very controlling nature which I found to be too harsh but hopefully, the audience can get that this type of book (don't know about all BDSM books cause I've only read one of them) is best to get relationship advice.  Could feel out the sex imagery and liked part of it but mostly I was thinking and now I can just get to say, another book as stated before, better than Grey and Twlight.

It's just a light-hearted way to get on to the long things of the obsession of BDSM of the 2014  time peroid.  I'm always late to the game though so I finally caught up  I guess.

The best part of this book was when the main character compared himself to the "prostate" in Pretty Woman. Oy.
