You had me at “a reverse harem Snow White retelling”.

I thought the characters were well developed and I loved the noticeable differences between the guys.

Can’t wait for book 2!

How can she hold this much self control? I'd give in eventually, she's stronger and smarter than everyone takes her for.

Ohhhhh myyyy. I wasn’t prepared for this to be such a dark reverse harem. So I’ve read other books by Eve but they’ve never been this dark. This dirty? Yes. The psychotic mafia bros in this harem have been playing the looooong game to set this up. These guys have completely infiltrated January’s life. In the sneakiest ways. All to get back at Zachary. January has been held hostage for her whole life by her gross stepmother. Her stepmother that sold her to Zach when she was 8 so she could be married at 18. So we don’t know exactly what the mysterious Zachary Parker has done but we know it was bad. I can’t wait for the next book.

4 stars…

Just because I have seen a lot of talk about this book being different than what was expected, I want to make it clear that I would absolutely classify this as a dark romance! It is different from Eve’s normal stories, so I just wanted to put that out there before continuing. It’s also reverse harem, but that part is pretty clear. Okay, now I will proceed.

So, we have January, who is kind of a moron. It isn’t entirely her fault; she has been sheltered, and that’s because she was promised to someone when she was like 8. It’s every bit as creepy as it sounds. When January is kidnapped at the beginning of the wedding, the reader isn’t sure if the situation is going to be better or worse than she would’ve walked into. I’m still not sure. Regardless, she is at least smart enough to know she needs to stay a virgin, which isn’t the easiest thing when there are four virile men hanging around.

Part of the reason I often struggle with RH is because I stop and start a lot, so too many characters can confuse me. That didn’t happen here. Per usual, Eve nailed it with the characterization and the dialogue. That being said, it felt like a cliffhanger, which I was not expecting. I don’t necessarily care, but made it feel unfinished. But I’m willing to keep reading to see if that changes!

TWs cover most of what happens in dark romance: non con, violence, etc. But if you need more specifics, feel free to message me

This is a dark Reverse Harem romance, January gets kidnapped by four men on her wedding day. It’s an arranged marriage to a much older man, her stepmother set up.
It’s a loose dark retelling of Snow White.
I don’t read a lot of Reverse Harem, I appreciated that this was slow burn. The author took time to explore the characters and let the reader get to know them.
Also, when there’s multiple male characters sometimes it gets confusing and they all seem similar, definitely not the case in this story. Each man is very distinct and intriguing.
January seems very naive and innocent. And she is, she’s also smarter than she is given credit for.
I loved the gritty vibe of this story. I was never sure what the men were going to do and it added some great anticipation and suspense.
The characters have my attention and I like them all very much.
It gets really hot, naughty and sexy later in the book. It’s a slow build up, and I loved it.
It’s a tad slow to move forward, I believe it’s going to be a trilogy so that makes sense that it’s setting up the characters and story.
I like the authors writing style and I’m really looking forward to the next book.
It ends on quite the cliffhanger, I can’t wait to see how things play out.

big fan of dark romance but hitting the mc multiple times for no apparent reason is crossing the line no? but the writing style and plot is good - plot as in what’s goin on with mr parker and not the domestic abuse written ones being with the mc

In this fairytale retelling of Snow White, it's a twisted ride into dark desires, wicked games and a thin line between life and death.

A pretty face doesn't always mean a good person is hiding underneath and age doesn't always equal wisdom...it's a lesson that January Whitehall learns the hard way. January has lived an extremely sheltered life. Sold into an arranged marriage at the age of eight, under the constant eye of bodyguards, she's never lived a life like a normal child. It isn't until her wedding day that everything changes and at the hands of four men that her entire world turns upside down.

As a character, January grew on me. She didn't start off strong or full of knowhow, instead it was through her strength of character, her never ending pool of faith in believing in herself, that I grew to respect her. That in itself surprised me and I love surprises when reading. She's incredibly naive about the world, but it's that purity that draws the men to her along with her inner strength. Like I said, she surprised me and that part of the story I really enjoyed.

Each man who has a hand in opening up her sheltered world, they are all completely different in how they handle her; Domenico "Doc" Valente, Roberto "Bobby" Bassilotta, Adriano Rossi, and Elliot "Eli" Morelli.  While they have been friends for years, their goal wasn't to kidnap January, but to destroy her fiance, Parker. However, now that they have possession of her, things within their friendship shift and change as well. Is it for the better, for the worse, or are we at the beginning of this crazy ride? I haven't yet figured out if I have a favorite, but there are moments that hit me harder and like any RH, my favorite kept shifting.

Velvet Cruelty is the beginning of this twisted tale which is dark. Beware any TW's or jump in if this is your jam. I'm totally swimming in the deep end and can hardly wait to see what happens, especially after the cliffhanger Eve left us with.
