5 stars!⭐️
Why didn’t I read Divine Rivals sooner? 😭 This is definitely my favourite book I’ve read this year! 🥹
I cried multiple times and couldn’t stop reading. I was thinking of Iris and Roman all the time and I just wanted to know what was going to happen. Rebecca Ross’ writing is absolutely beautiful and atmospheric. I love the way she describes emotions and settings.
In terms of the characters, I love how complex everyone is. Not just the main characters but the side characters as well. She managed to make me care deeply for Iris, Roman, Attie and Marisol.
I also didn’t anticipate where the story was going and how everything developed. This is truly a romantic and devastating read. I was shaking during the last 50 pages because of how stressed I was.
I am definitely starting Ruthless Vows as soon as I can 💙 I need to see what happens next!

1/1/24 Review
To nobody’s surprise- this book made me CRY AGAIN! Even knowing what was coming and knowing how it ended, my heart cracked in half again reading this. Just like the first time, I’m in awe at Rebecca’s ability to depict war. I’ve never been in one but her descriptions are so reminiscent of what I know of wars. It’s haunting and heartbreaking and the notion of two gods fighting a war has always been odd to me because I view wars as proof that the god that exists is not merciful or just or kind. I’m going to eat dinner and then start ruthless vows. Which I’m sure will only upset me!
6/16/23 Review “How do you change something like that? How do you make your life your own and not feel guilt over it?”
Let me try to write out coherent thoughts. You see, I saw the Fairy Loot cover of this book and immediately downloaded it on my Kindle. I finished my episode of Ultimatum and went to get ready for bed. However, as I lay in bed - I found my mind wandering back to the premise of this book. And so I turned on my kindle and began reading. From the first chapter I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop until I finished this book. The characters have depth and wisdom beyond their age. The world is intricately built but not overwhelmingly described, leaving some room for explanations in the next book. The contrast between the letters and the chapters made my heart ache.
It takes so much courage to take control of your life, especially after you have felt that you have been doing what’s best or right for you. And to see both of these characters do that in their own way was really beautiful. This book kept me on my toes, with twists I never saw coming. Honestly the ONLY reason I hesitate to give it a full 5 star review is because of [SPOILER] which I felt to be a bit rushed and at times the dialogue between characters seemed too scripted.
Time to begin a countdown for the next one!
