This book was great. Listening to the audio book was such a bizarre experience because it was often depressing, shocking, heart-breaking -- but I couldn't put the book down. The story marched on. I loved the two main characters, I loved the attention to detail, and I very much enjoyed my first venture into historical fiction.
I give it a four because I found my mind wandering from time to time while listening to it, but that might have been a product of it being an odd book to listen to, rather than to consume the normal way. It felt like it was happening next to me or around me, rather than me interacting with it directly.
