A great heroine with gumption. A well developed story centered around a “gambling hell” called the Temptation owned by three clever and sophisticated friends who gave each suffered heartbreak. Resistance is a challenge for our determined heroine.

Kristin did such a great job at portraying the characters and their frustrations all throughout this book. Liliah has such spunk and willingness to battle for what she wants. She makes me wish I had half her personality. Liliah is best friends with Rebecca and Meyer and has been for years. Now, Liliah has found herself in an arranged marriage to Meyer while he is in love with Rebecca. Liliah and Meyer try desperately to find a way to break the arrangement. Which is where Lucas comes into play. I want mention anymore because that would ruin the story. Just know that this book hits on the emotions. It made me catch my breathe and just stop to appreciate the detail with which the emotions were written. IT was like I was witnessing their love story right in front of me and it was glorious. Kudos to Kristin! I can't wait for book two!!

This was a wonderful story and new author for me.

Lucas and Liliah were each strong people but I enjoyed the journey of them getting to be a strong couple.

Loved the angst of the best friends being forced to marry, while one was in love with their other best friend. That was a different take on a romance novel. I highly recommend this book and myself-I am on to the next book featuring Lilah's sister and Lucas' friend and happy to have found a new historical romance author!
