Thank you Emilia Hart for shedding light on the brutal reality of domestic violence, the subtleties and the ripple effects it has. This was a hard book to read at times, but the I absolutely loved the magical aspect of it, and the 3 main characters! I can't wait to see what the author writes next!

An interesting narrative of three women across generations.  If you like the stories where women triumph over the cruelty of men, then you will love this one.  Check the content warnings.  It had lovely prose and sympathetic main characters.

I loved this book! The story is told in three different timelines (1619, 1942 and 2019), with three different women. Their stories are interwoven and involve some witchiness, survival and self-discovery. There is a fair amount of abuse throughout, at the hands of men. (Many trigger warnings.) The message in the story is about the strength of women who, unfortunately, have been abused by men (partners, fathers, doctors, strangers) for centuries.
