oh boy okay, this is a story of 3 women across 400 years and it's woven together so intricately, so beautifully, that I just can't get over it. I would read this if it were 1,000 pages long. the themes and experiences that mirror each other and reach these women in varying stages of finding who they are and how they're connected...it's lovely. this author is magic, some scenes in this book had my breathless with how hauntingly beautiful the descriptions were. what a wild ride. (that being said, read the content warnings on these reviews, spoilers be damned. keep yourself safe pals!)

I loveddddd this book!!!!!!! A story about the strength of women living in a man’s world, and navigating their lives as solitary outcasts with no support but their own inner strength and connections to nature. Like !! What an incredible fucking story. The stories of our three Weyward women were weaved together so expertly. Their struggles mirrored each other and highlighted the way female suffering at the hands of man have not changed through the ages but by the same measure, neither does the incredible female strength and perseverance through personal tragedy. Female suffering is portrayed differently through literature and media but any women knows that you simply need to get on with it, we have no choice but to persevere and I think that was captured so brilliantly here. Despite the sadness and mistreatment of women I found this book to be comforting; a reminder that it is okay to be alone and that we are capable of impossible things. I loved that I felt transported to a beautiful cottage in the English country side, somewhere I feel I belong despite never having been there yet. I just simply cannot fault this book and hope to return to it in the future either on audio again or if I get my hands on a physical copy! Please consider content warnings before reading!!!
