this felt so dramatic, particularly during the second half. some people probably enjoy that more than me, but i personally didn't like the soap opera feel i was getting. that's partly because i don't really enjoy romance subplots in agatha christie books (at least not so far). i know that sounds like a pretty minor issue, but it made certain aspects of the mystery difficult to enjoy, and some of the characters harder to sympathise with.

Definitely not my favorite Poirot read. I found his companion (Capt. Hastings) to be even more annoying than I typically find his companions, and I just wasn't interested in the death or mystery surrounding it. I will say that it was nice to read a Poirot that I haven't already read.

Неймовірний детектив, перше знайомство з найпопулярнішою авторкою детективів, і пряме влучення!
Я рішуче взялася виписувати список персонажів, занотовуючи майже кожного: від покоївок до водія. Я справді вірила в свої сили, але сюжет побудований настільки закручено, шо вже під кінець я зрозуміла, шо програла цю битву розумів. Але ця жінка неперевершена, геній своєї справи - тому такій і пограти не сором)
Пуаро просто заворожує своїм підходом до роботи, текст читається легко, правда розв'язку треба перетравлювати доволі таки довго, перебираючи і розкладаючи факти в голові. Але воно того дійсно варте !
