Rated based on pure enjoyment. The redemptions arcs in this (originally) final book of the series were great. It covers difficult topics without being too heavy. Made me laugh and made me cry. Just lovely.

Seems like a fitting enough end to the series, if not exactly surprising in how things turn out. The battle for Manhattan takes up most of the book and then there is quite a long denouement getting the characters settled but also setting up the Heroes of Olympus series. Like the Harry Potter series, these seem to get darker in tone and less funny as they go along- another thing that surprised me is how little time they spend at camp in the last couple of books.

It's still so good. I could do without
the only black character dying early on to push the narrative
and
an asian character being a traitor (and also dying heroically)
but oh well. The rest of the story gets as close to perfect as middle grade can imo. I teared up twice. I love this series and I love Percabeth.

I absolutely love this book. The pjo series is already awesome, but this finale was spectacular.
Though Luke's demise is sad, the ending (especially the underwater kiss) makes up for all of the heartbreak.

Despite reading this book as an adult, as a first time read it was an amazing Pentology. I cannot remember the last time I got so attached to and invested in a series quite like this. Well done.
