There’s never a plot twist in Virgin River you wouldn’t see coming from a country mile – but I guess that’s what makes this series such a good comfort read.
I liked the dynamics in this one and I have a soft spot for Cameron, which makes this one a treat to read. I wish the book had spent less time on Shelby and Luke, but I guess we’ll be seeing more of Cameron andAbby in the next book.
In general, it wouldn’t hurt if Carr were to develop her characters instead of jumping from one status quo to the other; paving the way in between with reiterations if the same emotions. The last few chapters were headed in the right direction so I guess I’ll give the series another shot after a brief break.
I’m really torn on this one. It was much better than the last installment of the series so that probably boosts my rating a bit. However, at times it feels as though straight out of 1986, especially with all that talk aboutShelby never having had sex and therefore being somehow morally superior . Just once, I’d love to see a leading lady who doesn’t dream of being a wife and mother. (Or, god forbid, have an abortion OR working birth control)
