This is my most reread Nicholas Sparks book. I’ve read it at least 6 times (according to younger me’s catalogue system lol). I generally read it around the holidays, so I can ignore family for a few hours. There’s really something special about this storyline. And I very much love the open-ended ending than the decisive action of the movie’s ending. Book and movie are lovely. I’ll always hold a special place in my heart for A Walk to Remember 🩷
me gustó.
The storyline was amazing, I couldn't put it down. If it weren't for all the bible business I would have given it 5 stars. I don't mind that Nicholas Sparks refers to the bible in a lot of his books, I understand that it is a part of him and he wants it to be a part of his stories. However in A Walk to Remember, the whole story evolves around the bible. It's mentioned practically on every page. I would have felt more satisfied if the story had had more character build aside from the whole 'Jamie is very religious'. In that respect the film was better, although I felt that there were a lot of other parts about the book that were better. All in all a beautiful love story and an easy read.
Is it bad to say I liked the movie more? Although this book had many points that made your heart hurt, it was not as emotionally compelling.
Once again... The book was WAY better than the movie. And again... the endings were different. The characters went through so much more in the book! The characters were even more developed so that you understood them better. (i.e. - Eric...He at least made some attempt to redeem himself in the book.)
AMAZING book. The beginning was a little slow but when you get into it is really good. The end made me cry but happy at the same time.
