First of all: why is the story so Mixed?? It was written as a “Greek story” but then get the facts from Ovid, A ROMAN WRITER, who hated the Gods because of the merge between the Roman Gods.
Second: I was so closed to ripping it apart because I kept seeing Roman stories instead of Greeks during the Greek mythology section. My pinpoint was when Medusa was introduced I literally RIPPED IT OFF because I was so pissed. Ovid is not a reliable source im telling you.
I was only fascinated during the parts where it said the sources were from Homer and Hesiod (the only two authors I still rely on).
Overall i dont recommended this book if you wanna learn about Greek mythology. Pick up a Homer book or any Hesiod.

Lacking a classical education, and reading many of the classics, I often struggle to associated the many allusions to Greek Mythology. This book provided me with exactly what I was looking for. A succinct over view of the Pantheon, with the associated stories of each of the major players. I can't say I have a thorough knowledge of Greek mythology after reading this, but then all I was looking for was an aid in filling in the gaps of my own poor education. I have read in the past several of the Epics which feature many of these figures, but I am not Greek, nor ancient and find them tedious to read. A good book for free on kindle, if you are looking for the same.

A small encyclopedia of all the mythical world of the Greeks and Romans. If you want to reach a general yet perfectly recounted knowledge of the Ancient times, this is the collection for you. It's obviously less engaging than reading the translation of the myths themselves, but the description of almost every god and godess is worth every minute of the reading.
I particularly loved the description of the nymphs, for some reason they had more pathos and poetry to them than any other description given. In fact, sometimes, they could get a bit too much methodic for my taste.

Very fast-paced. It is a good read for those already a little familiar with Greek mythology, but some of it is so fast-paced that it becomes confusing on who's who or what is previously referred to.
Only like a 1/3 was actually what I was hoping for. 2/3 was just descriptions of Gods, mythological creatures, festivals and worship. Interesting, but I was hoping for more stories.
