Honestly, this book was such a let-down. I found myself bored many times and the plot just felt so all over the place. I loved the series but this book just unfortunately did not do it for me. I was hoping for a better end to the series but oh well womp womp.

…this book could’ve been shorter honestly. All I remember from Kenji’s pov is him comparing about Warner and skimmed through Ella’s till near the end. Overall this series could’ve been 3-4 books max tbh

I felt like this book was paced quite slowly, maybe slow to medium. The writing was creative and the book was easy to read, but I was only mildly interested in what was happening. It all made me want to roll my eyes or close the book out of frustration.

The fact that Emmaline took over Juliette's body was so frustrating and I hated it. Emmaline was eroding away anything that was Juliette. In the end, it saved Juliette's life, so I suppose it wasn't too bad, especially given the trauma she faced her entire life. On a side note, getting the same excerpts from Juliette's journal for the millionth time was annoying. I also disliked that Juliette erased Ella from her life and stuck with Juliette. It felt like she gave power to the Reestablishment.

Anderson was despicable once again. The way he treated Juliette was very creepy, and Juliette's helplessness was frustrating. Juliette was just a puppet and her lack of autonomy ruined the book for me. Hopefully Anderson will stay dead this time. Max was even worse and quite perverted. I'm glad he got his comeuppance.

Why was Warner throwing a tantrum again at the start? It was like his character didn't grow throughout the series. Regardless of how much Juliette meant to him, he should have been better. The self-sacrificing malarkey was boring but at least his devastation was valid. What did annoy me was the fact that he made out with Juliette before she had her memories back. He basically took advantage of her. Generally, there were a lot of sexually inappropriate moments in this book.

Kenji and Nazeera were the only ones thinking straight, whereas the rest of the resistance was pretty selfish. I was glad they were able to save James, but Adam was an absolute disgrace. He had the right intentions but was too much of a coward to actually do anything productive.

Overall, the Shatter Me series was a 3.5/5 for me. The characters made ridiculous choices and the story took a frustrating turn. It was definitely easy to get through though, and I was still intrigued by the plot. It was just the characters that annoyed me!
