If you asked me if I liked this book 300 pages in I would have said no. Honestly this book sucked. Boring and gross and depressing. But Mafi manages to once again make a full recovery in the end. I even cried. I hate to say it but the end was so sweet the whole gross Anderson thing seems less offensive.

This review makes me so sad. I loved books 1-3 so much.

This book was not all that I hoped it would be. I hate to say that my views on the series have been on the decline since book 4.

For me the main issue was the frustrating character arcs across the series:
- Don’t even get me started on Castle again. Castle deserves justice.
- I loved Kenji so much before, then Reveal Me drove my opinion of him into the dirt. He felt almost as bad as Adam. And this book did nothing to bring him back up.
- Book one Warner looked liked a total bad guy… but wait we found out he actually wasn’t a bad guy he had only appeared to be a bad guy. But wait, now he’s acting like a bad guy… what?!?? I get he went through some stuff (but he isn’t the only one) and he is upset/furious over their current situation, but damn. He just saved everyone at the end of last book, and now he’s going act nasty to everyone. 😠

- I hated the random when can I pee lines. I remember awhile ago there was this discourse about in books characters never having to use the bathroom. I feel like maybe this book was written during that time, because this kind of thing wasn’t mentioned in the other books.
- I hated the brainwashed Juliette chapters and her continually thinking Anderson is attractive. Like she’s been with two of his sons… could we not. At some point I was getting nervous that they may kiss and I probably would have DNFed. And what was with Anderson wanting to protect Juliette there at the end… bizarre.
- Finally, I hate that Kenji refused to call Juliette her real name (Ella). Anderson stole her memories and her real name. Then, Ella just deciding to go by Juliette at the end. It felt like some BS.

I spent the last half of the book wishing it was over.
