4.5 stars
I was lost at the beginning especially because of the narrator and the mainland part of the story. But around 50% I couldn’t stop listening to the book! Can’t wait to listen to the next one in the series.
I had a suspicion of who did it but didn’t figure how he did it. Amazing!

It’s more like a 4,5 for me. It was a bit slow-paced for my liking from time to time but it’s definitely a worthy re-imagination of Christie’s “And then there were none”. If you live closed circle mysteries make sure to put it on your to read list

A dark and self-reflexive murder mystery in the classic tradition, The Decagon Murders plays off the themes and mechanics of murder mysteries by placing a Japanese college-age murder mystery club in the crosshairs of And Then There Were None plot. The deaths, as they often are in the genre, are gruesome and sad. The tone and intrigue is heightened by the characters taking monikers from the famous lineage of murder mystery authors ("Agatha" and "Poe" and "Doyle"). As different authors meet their demise, the tightening net maintains its mystery with a few red herrings. Overall, fun genre fiction for those that don't mind the body count. I prefer my soft Japanese cat fiction to killings. 3.5 stars.

It was a good read. I didn’t see the plot twist coming.
