First published in October of 1933, this collection of twelve short stories is very much a departure from the work of Christie we are much used to. Exploring the occult, paranormal and all things bizarre in most of these stories, Christie dives into the bestial elements of atmosphere and tension within these tales.
Demonstrating Christie at her very best, was the multi-layered complex court drama "The Witness for the Prosecution" while "The Last Séance", a tale following the final performance of an overwrought medium, is one to leave a lasting impression for long to come in its sinister ending.
A quick read for those looking for a little bit of spookiness in the glorious sunshine, this book was a perfect accompaniment to dip in and out of as the sun set in the evenings.

This stories where amazing. By the end of each one of them I was completely amazed. This was just great.
3.5. It was alright. Some stories I loved, like “Wireless” and “The Witness for the Prosecution”, but others I didn’t really care for

This was my first non-mystery by Agatha Christie, and I love it.
In the version I read first were also The Fourth Man and The Red Signal, they weren't in this one.
My favorite is The Color of the Wings... how could she write that? It's a perfect example of the magic of writing, how she can create a whole world by just saying "I can't describe it" :-D It forces the reader herself to imagine, and know what one should imagine is more than anything one can imagine... And Pan...
I can't read the Last Seance again. It breaks my heart :´(

Dark, twisted, psychological and sometimes verging on the supernatural (refreshing, since Christie doesn't go there very often). Some real short story gems in there!
