I liked the first half, but it lost me when the spice began (I was not aware this was prt of th book so thats on me. Because I know I don't like it in any story i will try not to have it influence my rating as I shouldn't have read it anyways) I like the mystery when it was the mystery but the answers are just stupid. Some thing were quite funny as I read this book as some kind of a parody. The ending lost me completely. But it was an easy read great

Fun, lighthearted romance! I really enjoyed Misery and the humor in this book. But sadly, all the other characters in the book felt very one note. I appreciate Lowe is a green flag but he had no personality, very disappointing. Also the world building felt unbalanced and had some holes that annoyed me. Normally I wouldn't mind, but if you're going to give scientific explanations on Vampyre and Were biology then I expect similar rigor for world building.

I adored the FMC and the romance was one to root for. The world and lore was well-developed, with enough questions answered to keep the plot moving. Plenty of humor to be found!

ALI HAZELWOOD!!!!!!!!!!! She never misses. This is the third book I've read of hers, and they keep getting better. I did not know what to expect from this as it was her first fantasy novel but it was amazing. The politics were so good and I loved her spin on Vampyres and Werewolves. The angst and the yearning in this were top-tier. Misery was very relatable for me because I've struggled with my sense of belonging my entire life so I saw a lot of myself in her. She was also hilarious, and I giggled aloud through the entire book. Lowe is the perfect match for her as well, he accepts her for exactly who she is and matches her energy every step of the way. I love him so so much, he's the Alpha to everyone else but the biggest golden retriever when it comes to Misery. I was also on the edge of my seat the entire time trying to guess
where Serrena might be. It never occurred to me that her father was behind literally everything and I let out the biggest gasp when it was revealed. I knew he was evil but seeing as Misery didn't think he would ever stoop that low I didn't either.
Overall this was such a good read and I hope she plans on writing a second book in this universe even if it's not focused on Misery and Lowe. There are so many characters and plotlines I'd love to read more about. Especially,
Owen's transition into power and all the changes he's going to make.
I can't wait to get my hands on another one of Ali's books.

I really liked this book, a lot more than i initially thought i would. The main duo, Lowe and Misery, had chemistry right off the bat but it also did not feel insta-lovey. The progression of not only their romance but the story itself felt natural and evenly paced. This book was very easy to just lose myself in, which i appreciated.

My only real critique i would say is I didn’t like the third act break up but that’s with every romance. I also felt like the twists in this book were pretty predictable.

Overall tho I had a good time and would recommend it.

Picked this up on a whim and read it in a day. The writing was decent and I enjoyed the general premise. I really liked the world building and enjoyed the nuances between the Were and Vampyre societies. The characters were a little flat and this was a lot spicier than I was expecting (although that might just be my own ignorance, knowing nothing about the book or author going into it.) I tried to keep an open mind, but honestly I found the whole knot thing super weird. I know there's a lot of hype for Hazelwood's books and although this was a light, fun read, I can't see myself drifting to her work again.
