Ali Hazelwood is one of my must read authors, so I don’t know why I was nervous about reading a fantasy book by her. This marriage of convenience book where a vampire and a werewolf alpha get married for species relations was sooo passionate and witty and swoon worthy. I love a big strong MMC who falls in love first, loves his family and is just such a lovey dovey guy behind closed doors. I especially love how Lowe shows Misery that she is worth people caring about her.

i write this with trembling, shaky hands because……… i think i am a newly turned fan of werewolves. *screams and runs away covering my face* HAHDKSHDJ OKAY to be fair ive been a fan of werewolves since i watched teen wolf but they have different lore and my otp weren’t even wolves….. whatever, ANYWHOOOOOOO

there was just SO much to like in bride! i think that ali hazelwood books just get better and better the more she releases (while i didn’t care for the first steminist novels, her more recent books have been better — not in love is on my tbh, i just gotta wait ~13 more weeks, thanks libby) the world building wasn’t cheesy and was very easily understood. it did political intrigue very well and i felt the tensions between the species vividly through the words. i like the eccentricities of each species (like how special windows are actually really coveted by vamps) and it made the book that much more fun!

misery (what a crazy name when your twin is named OWEN) was such a fun character to read through. and this is a testament to ali hazelwood’s character voicing — because misery was hilarious. i particularly liked her dry banter with everyone and utter embarrassment of liking peanut butter. AND HER BEEF WITH ALEX ASAHDJAKDHAKAJHF.
lowe was also likable. his predilection for protecting and serving (non-militaristic) was so sweet if not hot at times…

and speaking of hot times… THIS IS WHERE THE EMBARRASSMENT SINKS IN. let me start by saying everything i’ve ever learned about A/B/O has been learned against my will by peripheral tumblr content. but i get it now. i get it, OKAY?? SHSHDHAJDH the idea of mates and… mating. 🥵 like WGSIDHWUJ KNOTTING???? that shit is INSANE. the horniness of her scent was already crazy. if you see me read more werewolf romances in the future, this is me politely asking you to just look away.

I loved this book, every trope I could want!
Also, don’t be a coward and embrace the knottiness ;)

I know this book has had some *controversy* surrounding it bit honestly…it’s a werewolf book…idk what people were expecting to occur in a 🌶️ scene.

For me, Ali Hazelwood dialogue can either be very fun or very cringe.
I did enjoy this book, don’t expect to much and you will have lots of fun.
