I love this author, especially her STEM romances, but this romantasy was a nice change of pace. I don't read many vampire/werewolf books, but this was fun and steamy.

War jetzt kein literarisches Meisterwerk, aber durchaus sehr unterhaltsam mit einem flüssigen Schreibstil, der einen praktisch durch die Seiten fliegen ließ.
Die Protagonistin ist mir manchmal etwas auf die Nerven gegangen, weil sie nicht verstanden hat,

wer die Gefährtin des Alpha ist

und man das als Leser schon von Anfang an wusste, aber da sie nicht sehr viel über

die Werwölfe

wusste, konnte man es ihr sehr lange Zeit verzeihen, nur irgendwann hätte theoretisch auch sie es merken müssen

(jedenfalls früher, als sie es getan hat)

.
Es waren aber auch Plottwists dabei, die nicht unbedingt vorhersehbar waren.
Insgesamt hat es mich ganz gut unterhalten, deswegen ⭐⭐⭐.5

This reads a bit like twilight for adults, which isn’t off the bat a terrible thing. Hazelwood makes a respectable go at her first romantasy but it ultimately misses a lot of what makes both a good romcom and a good fantasy. The enemies to lovers romance plot felt incredibly weak - there wasn’t much tension or build up so it was hard to feel invested in the main characters’ romance. On the other side of things, the author gives us a half hearted attempt at world building that leaves a lot to be desired. A good fantasy needs time and more pages than Hazelwood was willing to dedicate here, which is fair, but you lose some of the intrigue. The plot kept my attention enough, and while some of the fantasy may have felt teenage-like, the romance and spice were decidedly rated R. There was smut a plenty in this one.
I don’t regret reading it, it was certainly entertaining and witty at times, but I’m not sure I’ll go out of my way to recommend it to others, either.

Never did I think that Ali Hazelwood would be the one writing the biggest paranormal romance of the year, yet here we are.

This book was so addicting, I muted the football game I was watching and just continued listening to the audio – I couldn't stop.

It's the perfect mix of delicious smut and actual, well thought out world building and plot.

The Feelings were there from page one and while I usually hate miscommunication, here it was just so adorable and so well done, all I could do was root for Misery and Lo and their HEA.

Also: Lo Morland is my new book boyfriend
