What is this thing about biting each other when felt like and that could make the pair more romantic? And what is a knot? If the knot really hindered an inter species sex, maybe would have accepted but MATE SEX?!I am never buying that. I hated these two parts.

All points for my girl, Misery. She is confused, she is a nerd, she is a coder and she has a big unyielding heart. Lowe was okay but his alpha nature and his paternal love for his sis was beautiful. However, for me I could not love him as strongly as I loved Levi or Jonathan Turner. Turner was the best nerdy MMC possible.
I love how Ali Hazelwood works on slow burn romance, how she makes a strong nerdy sciency female character. I, being, a microbiologist gets so many nostalgic moments while Ali explains bio. It’s a feast to my eyes. I feel nerdy women in STEM are so powerful a choice to be someone’s main character.
Anyways, Serena is a lovely side character and Alex too. Looking forward to more Koen and Serena stuffs, if the final book really deals about that!

This was my first Ali Hazelwood and I really liked it! I understand that this a bit of a departure from her other books, but I liked that she kept an element of STEM in her fantasy world. I absolutely freaking loved Misery! Girl had me cracking up! Especially her interactions with Ana. Lowe was pretty great too. The knot thing was weird though.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for this advanced copy.

This was my first Omegaverse AND Ali Hazelwood novel. And, oh boy, was it an adventure! 😂

First of all, it is immediately clear what a talented writer Hazelwood is. I was hooked within the first couple of minutes! For the majority of the novel, the story was not much different from other vampire/werewolf books I’ve read. I don’t mean that in a bad way. I just did not yet understand how the omegaverse was different from other fantasy type novels ….

I patiently awaited THE scene everyyyyyyone was talking about. 🪢 The Joyful Chaos Book Club group chat previously went OFFFFFF with all the joyfully chaotic comments about this scene. When I got to what I assumed was the scene, I thought, “OH! THAT’s how it’s different! 😮 Okay, no biggie.” I mean it was certainly not green pepper spice, but it was nowhere near ghost pepper content like I had heard others refer to it as. I would say it was more jalapeño spicy …

Then, I got to the end of the book. And that’s where I uncovered the omegaverse  territory I had been seeking. Y’all … I’m not gonna lie … And I might break a few JCBC hearts in the process (sorry!!) … but … I laughed … audibly. And I’m not sure what that says about me. 😆

Please know, this is not a bad review AT ALL!! I LOVED this book! It was completely hooked all the way through. I’m just not sure the genre is my cup of tea. If you’re at all intrigued, definitely give this one a try!

Not bad, predictable in a good way?? It’s her first book I’ve read so.

Characters are okay, Lowe I literally know nothing about but the little paragraphs of his perspective at the start of each chapter were cute.

Not sure, I enjoyed it more upto about 50%. Hmmm. I just wish there was more?? It feels half done. The writing was a little confusing at times too.

Worth reading though???

I am a HUGE Ali Hazelwood fan, but this wasn't my fave fantasy or Ali Hazelwood book. I did really enjoy it in the end and I am looking forward to the sequel.

The story starts slow and then picks up, but that is also the nature of world building. It is a bit predictable, but that didn't ruin anything for me, I was looking forward to seeing how things unfolded.

I would recommend!
