This was a little too timely, in that it follows ordinary people as their society is overtaken by fascism. So despite the fact that I've read dozens of books about WWII, it felt very fresh.
Some of the characters felt a bit stock, but still well-drawn. Overall I really liked the storytelling and the writing was lovely. I would definitely try another book by this author.
