I would read it again to go back and see all the connections. I found it somewhat challenging to read, but rewarding too. The mood of the book is sad and gray due to the time in history, but light shines through some of the characters’ deeds and there is certainly an element of hope.

This book was a slice of life of the residents in 33 Place Brugmann in Brussels during WW2. The buildup and the war itself, how some went into hiding, how others resisted, and how others either were "truth tellers" or looking out for themselves. How humanity can be found along devastation.
