Diari d'Anna Frank

Anne Frank

4.16 AVERAGE

Anne Frank's diary is a great discovery, which gives significant insight into the struggles of families in hiding during WW2, and reveals the strength of the human spirit.

Anne Frank's diary provides information regarding what daily life was like for families in hiding. It was full of struggles, which impacted her health and well-being. Anne struggled with feelings of loneliness, isolation, and longing for the outside world. She missed her old way of life, wanted to go to school, struggled with boredom, and worried about her Jewish friends. Her family and other people who stayed in the "secret annex" fought frequently and there was tension. Sources of food were unstable and inconsistent, leading to periods of starvation. There was also the constant fear and anticipation of being discovered by the Gestapo.

Dispute her circumstances and hardships, Anne Frank was a strong woman. She was not perfect. She had her moments and made mistakes, but she worked on self-improvement. She pursued her passions in hiding. She still had hopes and dreams. She still believed there was good in people. She believed in a better tomorrow. Overall, Anne Frank's diary reveals how families in hiding lived their daily lives during the holocaust, and creates a greater appreciation and admiration of human resilience.

*There is no rating for this book. It does not feel appropriate to me to rate a diary as it was intended for private use, rather than the general public.

Amazing insight, you forget children have cohesive thoughts too. Amazing context, a different perspective from other views of the war. A great read for anyone.

I read this when I was in 6th grade. This book is why I got interested in history and international relations. When I was 12 years old, I was not aware that someone, a few years older than I was, could experience such terror, where every waking day could be their last if the Nazis discovered them.

Unfortunately, this book does not have a happy ending.

Even after Anne Frank's death, she continues to be a symbol of resilience and hope. Her diary is also a reminder that the past shall not be forgotten, but remembered.
