Spoiled a bit by the fact it changed genre half way through! The first two thirds of spy thriller were really great then the unexpected foray into science fiction threw me completely. Would still recommend, just might have appreciated a warning so I could mentally prepare for what felt like starting a completely different book slap bang in the middle.

Proper bag fumble here. The first two thirds of this book are absolutely fantastic. Everything in Iran in the first act especially is incredible - so well written, so detailed, so visceral - and it seemed nailed on to get the full 5 stars, until the final act hit. It just goes completely insane. I couldn’t believe it. It goes from a realistic but heightened spy thriller to a full on zombie apocalypse time travel fiasco. It then completely rushes the ending and tries to slot everything nicely into place. I’d suggest stopping at the end of part 2.

An enjoyable read just like Pilgrim, particularly the first third, but got a bit insane and too unrealistic towards the end. The last third also felt super rushed after a very slow plod in the middle. Made me want to read Pilgrim again though my one true love

What happened?? The start of this book was soooo exciting and a crazy thriller story and then out of nowhere the last 200 pages were a time travel story? I was so confused- it was so out of nowhere and did not serve the plot at all. This didn’t need to be 800 pages.

I've been waiting for this book for so long. After reading The Pilgrim, which I consider one of the best thriller books, I couldn't wait for Terry's next novel. And I have very mixed feelings, because it's not Pilgrim :( It started well, then I felt extremely bored, and only towards the end I got really hooked. However, the ideas for the plot twists seemed a bit too far-fetched, well, I don't want to give spoilers, but I was shaking my head in disbelief, thinking that the author had gone too far with mixing genres. If you accept the idea of solving the story, the ending is very engaging. Unfortunately, overall I feel a bit disappointed, maybe I was expecting too much.

I felt a bit catfished by this book. It started off really good, I thoroughly enjoyed parts 1 and 2, and part 3 wasn’t bad either. It wasn’t until part 4 came out of the woodwork with the wildest plot twist I’ve seen in a while, that I lost the ability to take the book seriously.
