The general message of this story seems to be that you'd have to be a masochist to love life. Since this book is a retelling, I'd love to know how it compares to the traditional mythology. I liked listening to it, but as a lengthy fairy tale it feels at least partially nonsensical. The reader did a great job on remaining expressive throughout.
