Danny is a sassy but compassionate human ER nurse.
His life revolves around work and he is running ragged so he can afford to pay for his mom's care home as her health regresses. His loneliness is palpable but he can't afford to slow down.
In comes Roman. Centuries old grumpy vampire who is running from a past that's bound to catch up with him.
He was only meant to pass by the small town but ends up not being able to leave due to the pull he has towards Danny.
Roman was beginning to give up on the concept of fated mates and started to believe he will eventually turn feral. But after seeing Danny, everything changes.
Now all Roman has to do is explain that he is a vampire and also the fact that he is bound to Danny for an eternity. Oh and that Danny will eventually have to give up his humanity. Let's not forget Roman's past approaching at vampiric speed.
I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two characters. I am a sucker for a fated mates story and this book was everything I wanted. Despite everything happening to Danny he is still so kind and sweet to everybody. And Roman comes in to bear some of the weight he carries.
This books has a great plot/romance balance and is filled with action and the cutest found family.

DNF @ 33%

I've picked up this ARC (and Soren's story) because of all the good things my friends and people I follow said about it. But it didn't click with me, not at all! I never made it to the growly bits nor the possessive sex because in all seriousness the romance between Roman and Danny was just plain and it reminded me of the MF roms I used to read 2 decades ago.

Hopefully Soren's story will be a bit more thrilling.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Reread/Relisten: August 2023

lol this is what happens when you read so many books so quickly, you read a book about 3 months ago and remember almost nothing hahah

this was a good reread. i enjoyed it like before, it was a good start to a series, but nothing spectacular that made it stand out! i do still love the narration by Michael Ferraiuolo!!

3-3.5 stars: May 2023

when you see Michael Ferraiuolo narrating a MM vampire book, do you read anything about the book? no, you drop everything and buy it haha. then a three day weekend hits and you have family visiting soo you have to wait to read this when they leave haha.

this was a good start to a series, while all the books are going to be standalones (or at least that is what it says from the synopses) i think that there will be overlap at least for the first 3 books with the vampires we have already met (Roman, Soren and Lucien)

I am excited for the rest of the books to come out on audio Michael Ferriauolo is one of my favorite narrators so having this series hopefully all done by him will be a dream!!

now on to find the next book!

OMG! I was lucky enough to receive a review copy of this book and have spent the last 2 days binge reading it (pesky work interrupting me or I'd have finished it in a day)

I love it when a book grabs me from the get go, and this one certainly did. Danny and Roman are so perfectly written, they pull you in from the start and you find yourself hoping like hell they get a happy ending. The plot is easy to follow, and there's just the right amount of sexy to keep you happy.

All of the side characters, Luc, Soren and Gabe, fit in well and add depth to the story. I'm really looking forward to finding out what happens next. All in all, read this book. You won't be disappointed.
