This is my first Elin Hilderbrand novel and it did not disappoint. I could not put this one down. The dedication alone had me choked up. This was a beautiful homage to her real life family. I loved how she took elements of the things she loved about her family and gave them to her characters. It made them so real and the story was so believable that it was seamless. The secrets in the book weren’t super shocking, but that was ok with me because the events that occurred in this coming-of-age story were so engrossing, shock value would have dampened its allure. I love how strong the female characters were. They found their voice and it was inspiring. Great story! And read the Author’s Note at the end because it reads like a love letter to her family.

I enjoyed the characters and the beautiful family story. It was a little hard for me to read just because there was a lot to unpack and it kinda felt like things bounced around until it all came together in the end. It did however, show the ups and downs families face and how sometimes you just need to make a change with a fresh start.

3.5, rounded down for predictability. Hilderbrand’s books are engaging and relatable. This one was enjoyable but not my favorite.
