I don't know if I've been so angry after finishing a book. It hurts me that it had so much potential but the story sucked so bad. The only character that you can develop some sympathy is Ronke.

The ending went like a fantasy Nollywood movie cause..what is that? The way that the troublemaker went away so easily. And the girls, those grown women were so stupid that they didn't see the game Isobel was playing. There is a lot to say but a lot of people talked about it already in the 1 or 2 stars.

Most of the book wasn't really a thriller, prolly contemporary. But I still enjoyed it. Maybe a bit too much cause I am Nigerian so all the cultural references made me feel appreciated

The racism and stereotyping of Nigeria is surprising and disappointing.

Carefully weaved plot, even if the reader could see the red flags way before the charters. I loved the diversity of the text, and how May chose to share through her characters the intricacies of Nigerian culture. Each character was also very well developed in their thoughts and feelings. However, the plot was slightly basic in that we could see certain things coming, and I stayed for the amazing characters and their relationships, not the  'thriller' style plot (although this was interesting). At some points I hated the characters, at some points I loved them, as was May's intention. I feel that some of the male characters were two dimensional, and I hated how much Kayode's abusive behavior was excused by his murder. The readers were supposed to dislike how Ronke held him on a pedestal for most of the text, but were then expected to love him.
