This book has left me SPEECHLESS!! I couldn’t stop reading it and I mean oh my goodness it was a rollercoaster of emotions (with our lighthearted humor of course). The friendship between Callum, Tamara, Aaron, and of course Havoc has always been my favorite part, even Jasper. I was routing for Tamara and Callum and mourning Aaron at the same time.
‘“Call,” he said breathlessly. His lips were bluish. “It was never supposed to be me. I’m not the hero. You’re the hero.” Impossibly, he smiled, just the slightest crook of a smile. “It was always you.”’
This is the first book to actually make me tear up! I loved it so much, it might just be my favorite in the series!

Hmmm.
Im v conflicted about this book.
On the one hand, the story was interesting. Jerico's diary, death and the soul, the experiments.
But then, it was all jammed into 200 pages. Why? If anything this book needed to be the longest, fleshing out these complex scenes where Alex was sent to the Void, where Call almost died, when Kimiya decided to be with Alex again, and the most brushed over: when Master Joseph died.
I dunno. I liked it, yes. But i am disappointed CC and HB didn't extend the length, which would have made this the BEST of the series. Unfortunate.
The epilogue also elicited an eye roll. Two pages and somthing major happens. It's frustrating that Alex is a Devoured, but without and nuance is it introduced.
I hope the final book is better.

Better than book 3. Call only refuses to divulge one major secret - and it’s not even his own. And in terms of communicating with Tamara he actually manages to spit things out.
I appreciate that characters and institutions remain grey. People surprise you and the political arm of the “good guys” continues to make bad decisions.
Some of the major questions of the series resolved.
In fact, an epilogue is used to make sure the reader knows there is more to come. That outcome was certainly foreshadowed. There is another twist at the end that I’m not sure about, though I must admit it will be an interesting point around which to continue discussions about the soul and its relationship to/counter of chaos.

Seeing Call go back and forth in this book about his morals and seeing them being tested, especially with Aaron in his unaffected form, added so much to this series. So far I’ve really enjoyed all the books, so here’s hoping book five will deliver a great ending!
