I'm having a hard time writing this review because the last 15% or so, I was skimming, and I was skimming some parts in between, too. I knew it'd be long (like the first one) and thought I was prepared for 560 pages of wasting my time reading things that have been written every single page prior, but I think by the end, especially after reading book 1 and 2 back to back, I lost my steam.

So I'm in the mood to *hate* review this book even though I did really enjoy it. Carter is still my number one, but Garrett was an adorable little cutie patootie roll and I loved him, too. But Carter's moments, for me, were still the highlights.

Jennie

↪ It's probably just me but I just don't like the nickname Jennie. Like it just threw me off and I had a hard time getting past that. With that being said, at least Jennie had a personality unlike Olivia. I loved the box of toys, I loved that they're both in the same apartment building. Jennie's past still haunted her and I LOVED LOVED LOVED how patient Garrett was with her. Not just with her body, but with speaking her mind.

↪ You can really see the growth and trust build in Jennie's heart and mind towards Garrett. It was a slow burn in that aspect, and I loved watching it. And I loved how Garrett wasn't at all insecure about using toys for Jennie since she wasn't ready.

↪ I felt for Jennie and the abuse she endured with Kevin and also those bitches in her class. I don't know how realistic what happened was with Krissy and whatnot but sure, it's for show and fiction. Fine. Comparing yourself constantly to your hotshot NHL superstar brother must be hard and I saw that in every exchange, especially with that soccer player at the bar who paid her no mind once Carter came into the picture. Also, Jennie and Carter's relationship is so sweet. And I love them so much.

Carter is a lot of things, but he’s the best brother anyone could ask for. As soon as his eyes met mine, when he found me sobbing, needing him, his entire face softened. He stood up, broke the phone of the person nearby who was videotaping, gave Kevin one final warning, then wrapped me in his arms and took me home.

Garrett

↪ Little cinnamon cutie patootie. What is it about these hockey players being big babies? I fucking love it. It wasn't what I expected when I started this series. I expected them to be cutthroat, rough, mean, and rude. But they're... adorable. Garrett was no exception. He got shy so much, and much like Carter, rambles when he's nervous. But when he's in the bedroom and in charge, he's dominant and has a filthy mouth. What more could you ask for?

Fine. I miss u & I want a blowjob. Please come over. Sunshine: And? Me: And I’d like to hug u because it’s been 5 days. Please come over. Me: And I’ll tickle ur back. Please come over. Me: And I’ll feed u. Please come over. Me: Please. Please. Please.

If I had a man begging for my attention like that, I'd fold in no time.

↪ Garrett's history with his dad (and family) was very heartfelt. I was happy to see growth for his dad.

Jennie and Garrett

↪The two together are wonderful. they are kind and patient towards one another, especially Garrett.

“Again?”
“I love you.” He presses a kiss to my cheek. “I love you.” The other cheek. “I fucking love you.” “I’m not crying,” I cry. “Just in case you were wondering.” I choke out a pathetic sob. “It’s allergy season.” “It’s February.” “Shut up.”

Side characters

↪The book wouldn't be complete without the marvelous side characters. Hank, Carter, Olivia, Cara, Emmett, Adam... CAN"T WAIT FOR ADAM's book. Also, when Olivia gave birth and all the hockey boys are holding that little baby?BIRTH CONTROL BE DAMNED MY OVARIES ARE SCREAMING

The negatives

↪I knew what I was getting into with the length from the first one, but goddamn... This book went in circles. Every other page, Garrett was describing Jennie's chestnut waves or the flutter of her eyelashes, how she doesn't trust anyone but can trust him! And Jennie did the same thing. Like Becka mack, girl, do you know that they can have other things to do besides daydream about each other? All they fucking did was talk and think about each other. For 560 PAGES! like please. How many times am I gonna read about Garrett's "corded arm muscles" or the rosy tint to her cheeks? HOW MANY? That's why I skimmed for so much of the book because honestly, there's 560 pages of a whole lot of nothing going on.

↪Jennie's "prank" saying it was a "tiktok" trend... who the fuck writes these books and thinks "that's a good plot point to include!" (Becka mack, apparently)

↪Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like these books aren't even spicy. Does it happen a lot? yes. But it also ends as quickly as it started. Like I can't remember a single thing or moment. It's like zipped through and then forgotten about the next day. And that? I hate that.

The fact that it only took me two days but it feels like I've been reading it a week speaks volumes .Sure, i read both book back to back but jesus. I really don't even want to read Adam's book because I'm just not ready to read another 10000 pages of adjectives put in blender and spit back out. Like at all. But I really want to read the next book because I want to see them all with the baby.............................

Book 2 - Garrett and Jennie

This book genuinely had me laughing my ass off. The flying dildos, the bikini top falling off, the getting caught playing while saying his name... ok I definitely have the maturity of a 13 year old boy, that much is obvious, but I had a really good time. I also loved how awkward and stuttering Garrett is despite being this super hot NHL hockey player and how genuinely good he is.

I did not appreciate how much Carter showed up in this book and he was SO much more annoying here. He was annoying in his own book but the whole overprotective older brother thing was borderline insane. Most of his comments were asinine, he was such a shitty friend and ultimately a terrible captain that made stupid choices. Also, the whole second line thing would NEVER happen. What coach would allow that?

Also, this book really could’ve been like 150-200 pages shorter. It should’ve ended while it was still funny. It REALLY dragged at the end.

Either way, I'm looking forward to Adam and Jaxon's books.
