I don’t think I was in a great headspace to read this book, so readers beware. It was devastating and heartbreaking, especially as a Floridian. I’m sure this is a story that will stick with me for a while!
**4.5 stars** This is a realistic view of what life will be like when the world around us ceases to exist as we know it. But also it's a beautiful coming of age story that shines a light on the consequences of our collective actions without it feeling like a lecture. At once terrifying and hopeful. Wanda will stay with you long after you read the last page.

ACHINGLY BEAUTIFUL WRITING. The kind of book with passages and lines I’ll be going back to, just to sit with them for a little while — which is my favorite kind of book.
the portrayal of a post-climate change world felt a little TOO close to home and honestly unsettled the shit out of me - I don’t typically need a break from books for being sad or heavy (even though my top book moods are “reflective” and “emotional”), but the complete plausibility of a lot that happens in this book hit me like a brick.
gorgeous portrait of what it means to be human & to survive, especially when neither of these things exist in a vacuum.
