4 star rating reflects the edition and footnotes, not Milton's work. Would have preferred more line by line annotations but I really liked the introduction and history the editors put together.
Prose was a bit too tough to really absorb more passively with the audiobook. I may revisit this title and do better with a copy in print!
As a creative writing major, my school required me to read it for a class but it was actually really interesting to read. At times it was difficult to understand but overall the story was fascinating. It took us on a behind the scenes tour of lucifer in hell before he entered Eden and te demise of the first humans ever.
