Read the story itself, still need to read the manga. Quick read a bit different from the actual story, but a bit of a nice tie into the "Curse of Middle three-year class 3"

I love the other additions to this series. One of my favorites. It’s short and the twists were nice. I love the inclusion of artwork from the manga, it’s gorgeous!

As a fan of horror fiction, I recently delved into the chilling world of «Another Episode S» by Yukito Ayatsuji. However, despite my initial enthusiasm, this book left me with mixed feelings.

The tale revolves around Mei's entanglement with Teruya Sakaki, a former student ensnared in the malevolent clutches of Class 3's ominous curse. As Teruya meanders through the ethereal realms as a specter, his fixation takes hold, urging him to untangle the web of circumstances encompassing his untimely demise, his sister's web of deceit, and the elusive verities lurking beneath the surface. United in purpose, Mei and Teruya embark on an otherworldly odyssey, braving the shadows, and endeavoring to unearth the secrets that enshroud his tragic fate.

One of the strengths of «Another Episode S» lies in its ability to cultivate a genuinely creepy and mysterious atmosphere. Ayatsuji deftly forges an ethereal tapestry, weaving a ghostly narrative that leaves readers teetering on the precipice of apprehension throughout. The nebulous mists of Teruya's recollections instill a persistent sense of disquietude, ensnaring one's attention until the final page is turned.

However, despite its engrossing premise, the book succumbs to a noticeable inclination towards repetition. While Teruya's bewilderment and fixation on his own demise are understandable, the ceaseless reiteration of his ruminations and emotions becomes wearisome. Pages upon pages are devoted to reiterating information previously conveyed, ultimately detracting from the narrative's overall cadence.

Despite this flaw, «Another Episode S» is a quick read. The brevity of the book allows for a swift exploration of Teruya's quest for answers, ensuring that readers can easily immerse themselves in his ghostly odyssey. Nonetheless, the revelations that unfolded along the way fell short of expectations. The events surrounding Teruya's demise and his sister's actions lacked the desired impact, as their motives were relatively easy to deduce.

The true surprise of the story came in the form of Teruya himself, but even this revelation felt somewhat contrived. Ayatsuji attempted to justify this twist by presenting a detailed analysis through Koichi, offering explanations that accounted for the story's progression. It leaves one pondering whether Ayatsuji might have forged a more inventive and gratifying execution of the plot's trajectory.

In spite of these disappointments, there were some clever clues sprinkled throughout the story, such as Teruya's peculiar way of referring to himself. These subtle hints provided an engaging element for readers seeking to unravel the mystery alongside the characters. Nevertheless, the author's choices in crafting the overarching narrative prompt reflections upon whether «Another Episode S» truly encapsulates Ayatsuji's full creative potential.

In summary, «Another Episode S» by Yukito Ayatsuji presents a spectral narrative infused with captivating horror elements, enticing initial devotees of the genre. The eerie ambiance and the enigmatic presence of Teruya Sakaki forge a sturdy foundation for this chilling tale.

Note: The book is divided into two parts, and this review is only of the short story part of the book, not the Manga.

It was a nice filler for the series, but it has nothing to do with the main plotline of Another. If you are a fan, this is a must-have for your collection. The translation was good and wasn't too difficult to read. Mei Misaki went on vacation with her family and get rapped up in a ghost mystery.

Спін-офф виявився такий собі. Твіст в кінці був непоганий та цікаво було читати пояснення всіх подій, але от читати про самі події з точки зору Сакакі було трохи нудно. Невеликий хронометраж тексту тут йде тільки на користь.
