A must read! Excellent storytelling by an author whose lived experience shines light on the horrific nature of incarceration in America. This story broke my heart but also inspired me to become a fellow “stone catcher” to intercept the stones thrown at the most innocent and vulnerable among us.

This book reaffirmed my perspective. It gave me more horrific information on systems that have been hidden from me. Every American should read this book.

Mr Stevenson shows his audience that there is a lot more to the criminal justice system than we think. He shares stories from men and women he has represented over the years, telling how they were mistreated, sometimes by the very people who are supposed to serve and protect. Along the way, he breaks down laws and policies, helping the reader understand what it really means to prosecute a minor as an adult, or to sentence someone to life in prison as a juvenile. I highly recommend this book and it will very likely become required reading for my children in their high school years.
