Rating a 4/5 just because of the fact I’m terrified of clowns — BUT I PUSHED THROUGH FOR THIS AMAZING PREQUEL

*whispers* Yes, I liked it a lot. No, I’m not proud of it. Yes, I probably need my head checked. No, I’m not going to miss out on reading the rest of the series.

What else can I say 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s short, spicy and seriously questionable smut buuut I knew that going in and didn’t let it stop me. I don’t regret ignoring all the red flags and trigger warnings, except for the clowns. I’m with Jess, that shit is scary.

Short, quick and leaves you wanting more. Just check the warnings before reading, because this thing excalates quickly. The only reason it didn't get a higher rating is that it's too short to fit a little more plot. Together with the Losers Duet they're a 5 star read all the way through.

So The Dare is a novella about the Halloween party that the Losers Part 1 discusses at the beginning. I highly suggest reading this one first because I tried to jump right into the Losers. I had it on my Kindle already, and to read The Dare, I had to buy the physical copy. I just couldn't get into it. I struggled so hard at the beginning because I felt like I was missing something and people always rave about this gritty duology so for me to give it a fair chance I knew I needed to read the novella first so I ended up getting the physical copy and the Halloween party is WILD! We do fall into some sterotypical tropes because we are focused on the popular it girl and the outcast. Looking back I feel like the best way to read this one is to start Losers part 1 because we get a lot of the back story of the last year of high school and everything that went down with Manson and then the book shifts to after the party and references back to the Halloween party and at the point I'd pause that book and read this novella then go back to the main book. I know it's a lot of flip flopping. Still, I think its the best way to make the most since Jess leaves after the party instead of following through on her promise, and we do a timejump to after they graduate from college. Jess is forced to move back in with her parents, so she runs into Manson and his crew again.

4 Kiss My Boot Stars ⭐
Spicy Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

You know how hard it was to find this book because it's banned on Amazon. So that should tell you exactly what kind of book it is.

You know when you want something that is basically just smut, this is the perfect little quick read. I love this and found this utterly delightful. It was satisfying, left me hooked enough to want to start the main Novel and it was also utterly toe-curling and pleasurable if you get my meaning...

This story follows Jessica Martin, who was a "little miss popular in school", which obviously means that she was a bitch. She was also a MEGA bitch to Mason Reid. A couple of years later our Prom Queen finds herself at a Halloween party with the said Mr Reid and loses an interesting little game of beer pong that ends with her being his slave for a night. Mason, finds this circumstance extremely refreshing as he has a chance to make his little Miss Perfect just as embarrassed and humiliated as she did to him all those years ago.

Something that I absolutely love about Harley Laroux's books is even though they push the boundary sexually; she is very, very particular about ensuring that the entire thing happening is always consensual. In every book that I have read by her, the men have been pretty stern in making sure that if the woman wants to "tap out" at any point in time or if she doesn't like what's happening, she's in control. So as much as there are aspects of humiliation and degradation, Jess allows this and is not against it.

The reason this is not a full 5 stars is there were parts of this that I thought were incredibly uncomfortable as well as aspects that had me rolling my eyes. I think being a novella made it a little hard to form a connection fully with Jess so I couldn't fully understand why she was allowing this all to happen. IRL me in the same situation would have been screaming OH HELL NO and getting the eff out of dodge!

BUT this does make me super excited to start Losers where I hope to get a little more into her mind as well as see all the kinky stuff those boys are going to do with her... if this was just a small taste of what that book has in store...

Highly recommend this is fast-paced, sexy, enjoyable, perfect little book if you want smut and no plot.
