really enjoyed this one! I recommend for fans of “Such A Fun Age”
Interesting juxtaposition of the end of college and the beginning of motherhood.
I decided to round up the stars on this book because it was super relatable especially at the beginning. I feel like anyone could have written this book (no offense to the author). I just kept waiting for something to happen and it never really did. I think my audio book said it was at 75% complete when the "deception" took place. I was just like really. The betrayal in this book was absolutely nothing. Maybe thats the point though, to show how something that seems catastrophically bad is really not a big deal at all.
I am always happy when she publishes a new book—and they never disappoint!
This book was ... boring. I kept waiting for it to have a twist or a scandal but nothing ever happened.
Thanks to John Murray Press and Netgalley for the advance copy of this book.
The book looks at the intersecting lives of Sam, a student in her twenties, and her friendship with the mother of a child she’s a nanny for, Elisabeth. It covers many themes, including relationships, family, marriage, parenting, friendships, and how we mature over time; as well as the challenges of figuring out what you want to do in life, keeping up appearances, speaking your mind, and making big decisions.
The book is well written but I found it hard to get into it. The book is mainly set in America, and briefly also in London.

I really enjoyed this book! It was subtle, but made its points very well. The perfect example of “show, don’t tell” in writing.
For me, three stars is pushing it. This was more of a 2.5. I have read all of her other books and enjoyed them very much. This was my least favorite of all. It seemed a little too contrived or far fetched to make the points.
