Funny, interesting, intriguer, cool characters. I really liked D'artagnan, the gambling Athos and the few moments of King Louis. Very adventurous yet a little bit too long, especially with Lady Winter and the sudden end was quite disappointing.
A good read afterall.

Different version but liked it.
Always a great story. Likes this version well enough. Some aspects were different in this translation but all in all enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this! A lot more than I was expecting.
It's exciting, adventurous, funny, and ridiculous! Also, the audiobook narrator Paterson Joseph was absolutely splendid! His voices and everything were so good!
The book is 700+ pages so naturally it did feel a tad draggy and probably would've been perfect had it been maybe 50-100 pages shorter. But I am pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this long classic.
I'll definitely be trying out Dumas' other works now! I was originally very intimidated and worried about Monte Cristo, but after reading this one, I cannot wait to read it.

I think this book was ironically pointing out the ridiculous and flawed aspects of the ethics of honor that characterize the seventeenth-century characters' motivations, but I'm not sure to what extent it actually ends up reinforcing them. I found the book to be a romp and often quite hilarious, if at times disturbing for its sexism and elitism. The Lawrence Ellsworth translation (2018) claimed to be restoring previously removed scandalous material, so maybe that's part of what made it fun and exciting to read.
I know Milady is supposed to be a villain, but I couldn't help wanting her to succeed by the end.
