A book that I intend to come back to time and time again. Aciman has a unique way of writing that I fell in love with immediately. The only fault, in my opinion, is the fact that the romance itself is between an adult and a minor, and the age gap isn't so small as to validate the relationship (e.g. it isn't between, say, a 17- and 19-year-old), but Elio's naivety is used well and contributes a lot to the plot.

I wish I could go back in time and unread this book. I don't see why this book is so highly rated. Elio's actions were disturbingly perverse. Nothing about this was "romantic", if anything his actions were creepy and stalker-ish.

Please heed the trigger warnings before reading this book (underage sex, adult-minor relationships and some other minor tags)

I just finished reading this book and the peach scene and the bathroom scene made me so uncomfortable that I'm still feeling nauseous.

I don't think anything about this book was "cute" or romantic" the relationship in this book kind of reminded me of "Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke" (another very, very disturbing book. Please heed the trigger warnings if you haven't read it yet but want to)

genuinely genuinely a beautiful book, there’s soooo many beautiful lines.

but i just couldn’t get over the age gap sorry there are some beautiful lines about the gap and like i get it but idk it just doesn’t sit right with me. and i’m just weak but it’s a little too explicit for me but i don’t regret finishing this book because “Ghost Spots” was amazing.

Great summer read, the writing was at sometimes too explicit…I normally don’t have a problem with sexual content in anyway but I had the feeling that the author just needed to write those scenes…it didn’t feel genuine to me.
Elios and Olivers relationship is very complicated but I think that the age gap (7 years) isn’t as bad as it is written.

Elio is 17 and Oliver 23 but in Europe the age of consent is 16, so personally I don’t feel like it’s that big of a deal (in no way am I romanticizing adult/minor relationships but it’s kind of normal where I life)

. Moving on in the end it didn’t make sense to me as to why Oliver did the things he did because it just didn’t fit in with his whole character arc. I’ll definitely read the sequel next month!
P.S. I can’t eat peaches anymore without feeling slightly sick 🥲

i love how the author uses the most unique examples to tell us how the characters feel. elio and oliver had the stars, the relationship - albeit shocking at times - tugs at the readers heart in a way i didn't think was possible. this book ripped out my heart and i loved every minute of it.
