Beautiful. I haven’t read the movie so I can’t compare the two, but I love this book for what it is.
I loved the descriptions of Oliver and Elio’s time in Rome. Definitely transported me to those sleepless nights of my youth where I felt similarly. The ending absolutely wrecked me. I’m glad I got to be gay in a later time than these two. And I’m so glad Elio’s father was as he was.

A book that I intend to come back to time and time again. Aciman has a unique way of writing that I fell in love with immediately. The only fault, in my opinion, is the fact that the romance itself is between an adult and a minor, and the age gap isn't so small as to validate the relationship (e.g. it isn't between, say, a 17- and 19-year-old), but Elio's naivety is used well and contributes a lot to the plot.
