A really interesting premise that ultimately got in its own way? I feel like this could have been a book about what it is to be human when stripped down to its barest parts, but instead felt like bingewatching a Netflix sci fi series.

Some really cool cinematic ideas that end up falling flat without an actual camera to put weight behind them? The narrator stays cold and bland throughout, and any time they offer some sudden burst of emotion it just feels out of place.
