Ok so this is a book. A good book don’t get me wrong. I really enjoyed how it was written like JJ was telling you her life story or as if it was her diary in a way.
I was kinda rooting for her to be with the other guy (fykyk) but I know that’s just my taste in guys leaking out.
This book did make me wish I had some guy friends and that I did more growing up but oh well. Maybe I’ll pick up JJ’s ‘what the hell’ motto.

read this book in high school and wanted it marked on my “Read” shelf! I remember it being a fun rom-com of a boom, a little mindless but a good story!! Also love how much time passes

I loved how Phillip was always there for her through everything, protecting her whenever he needed, and letting her fly the other times.

I kind of like it, as any book of this genre it's catchy and entertaining; you can't help it but keep reading it.

THAT BOY made me laugh out loud so much. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters as they grew up. I also thought Dodd did a great job at writing Philip, Danny, and JJ in the right maturity mindsets throughout. (The book starts when they are in 4th grade and works it's way past college graduation)

It also touches upon some more serious issues and got really sad at parts. Dodd did a great job at mixing the depressing parts with slivers of light and hope for the future.

I was utterly surprised at how much I liked this book. Eagerly looking forward to #2.

More like 3.75 stars... Laughed, ugly cried, entertaining

Never judge a book by the cover. That statement applies in full force with this book. I probably would never have picked it up had it not been recommended to me by fellow readers. But I do have to say, that after reading the book and seeing the little doodles throughout, the cover is fitting. I loved the doodles by the way, especially the "chicken shittedness" one!

I loved the voice in this book. It was not perfect, choppy at times...well, maybe choppy isn't the right word. No it was more like getting sidetracked and going off on a tangent, sort of how your brain works as thoughts run through your head...sort of like I am right now. Anyway, getting back on track, it was like we were right inside JJ's head, hearing her thoughts as she had them. Again, I loved it because I was able to relate since it was almost like reading my own thoughts.

JJ is a riot, with 2 male best friends, both of whom are hot - gosh I'm jealous! She had me laughing throughout the book and then there are times when it was like BAM, and I find myself bawling my eyes out. WTF! How does she do that? But in the end, there was a happy ending and that made me happy.

Wow, I don't know if any of that made any sense, I think my mind is still mush from staying up too late reading. In summary a perfect, non stressful love triangle + hot guys + laughter + crying + staying up late to read and being a walking zombie the next day = this book earning 5 stars from me. Can't wait to read That Wedding!

3 stars

I have no idea why this book is highly rated. The writing is incredibly juvenile. It doesn’t immerse you in the story at all. There is zero connections felt between the characters, no plot or character development. I do not recommend.
