First off, let me just say that I have been waiting for this book to come out in book form forever. I just knew that if I read it as an e-book, it wouldn't do it justice. And I'm so glad I waited. This book was just ... I don't even know

Jillian Dodd has done something that not many authors have been able to do. She showcases the friendship between a boy and a girl. Not only that, but she also doesn't give into the typical love triangle that has the YA genre in stitches. Yes, there are two boys in this book: Phillip and Danny. Yes, they both love JJ. But it's an evolution of love, of friendship.

The presentation of each chapter, from the diary-like intros, to the drawings that accompany them, you really feel like you're in JJ's head. And you feel everything she feels. She wasn't perfect. She was stubborn, and flawed, and there were times when I wanted to hit her and be like, you're screwing this up! But she was also vulnerable and at times lost. Luckily, she had two best friends who were there for her - always.

First, there's Danny. Ah, Danny. The flirt, the smooth talker, the one guy every girl wants. From their first fight, you knew that sparks were flying between these two. And Danny never let her forget that. He was cocky, but not in a bad way. He pushed her buttons, was her partner in crime, and also stood up for her when she was wronged. Being with Danny would be passion...pure, straight passion.

Then there's Phillip.

No lie, this is who I pictured the whole time. I blame my love of Sleeping Beauty and the fact that I think Prince Phillip is the best Disney prince for my biased love toward Phillip. But come on, she named him Phillip and he calls JJ "Princess". I can't...

Phillip was the steady friend, the one who was always there for her. Who knew her limits even when she didn't know them herself. While Danny was the risk taker, Phillip was the thinker. He was not impulsive and thought through everything. He was the one she talked to every night before bed.

How could you pick??

Luckily, she didn't have to. The way the author wrote it, there was no "I pick him over you", there was no ultimatum. She didn't have to pick one. Instead, it was just natural growth. There was no doubt to me who she would end up with but I loved the ride getting them there.

I laughed, swooned, giggled, and sobbed. I loved JJ's inner thoughts. And I loved both of these boys so much. Both were perfect for her in their own way.

Thank you Jillian Dodd for writing such a beautiful and modern fairytale. I am glad our "Princess" found her Prince and I am off to read That Wedding because I just can't get enough of these characters.

*EDITED REVIEW!!*

Actual Rating: 2.5
Favorite Character: Danny Diamond
Cover: 4/5

Well, I'm disappointed, to say the least, with this book. I've been planning this review for over a week, writing and highlighting bits on the book to write about. I had really high expectations and I'm upset to say that those expectations were not met.

You will be surprised how many pages I filled out in a notebook with random facts and quotes about this book and hopefully I can still use them. Why did I not like this book? You might ask. Well, that will be below, in the spoiler bit of this rant review.

One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.

Okay, you see that part of the blurb? That Is intriguing. Now for those who have read this:
One Boy will give me my very first kiss- Phillip
One boy will teach me to make out- Danny
One boy will take me to prom- Danny
((And oh, what is missing??))
And, Finally, One boy will ask me to marry him- Phillip
Well, you see, the last bit should have never happened. I’ll admit, I was team Phillip when I started this book. Danny was a mean jerk. But then I realised Danny actually tried. He was passionate about things and he loved. Phillip, I found was very bland and didn’t have much character. The boy next door. Ordinary. That boy should have been Danny. Now below I am going to write some random dot points that I found I want to talk about, then I will discuss some.
-“I’m holding you personally responsible, Phillip” Phillip does a perfect imitation of my dad’s deep voice, “She’d better not get drunk, stoned, pregnant or dead.
-Walk through the emergency room
-105-102 temperature
-I hope something else bad doesn’t happen… (When Jayden is sick)
-Danny Diamond shops for diamonds.
-Danny is engaged
-If you don’t need a reason, then neither do I. (The kiss between Jayden and Phillip at Danny’s ‘Engagement party’)
-Did Jayden ever lose her virginity throughout the book? Did I miss something? 70% (By the end I realised she hadn’t…)
- Phillip Mackenzie, Danny Diamond, Jayden James Reynold
-Dialog reminds me the slightest bit of Vampire Kisses… (Talking to yourself)
-90% Uh, oh, I have a bad feeling about all this…
- (Charms) Rose, swing, N “Nebraska”, heart, cross, crown
-Grease: Greased lightning reference (Date)
-If I’m leaving with a broken heart, you’re leaving with a bleeding nose” Jayden on American Pie 2 soundtrack.
- (Funny themed parties :) Secs and Execs (Business people) Get Lei-d (Hawaiian)
- Phillip’s Grandad? With a bit of research, I found it was Grandma :)”God never gives you more than you can handle”
-Jayden’s Grandma (Kelly Clarkson :) ”what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”
-Overuse of the word John in 10% i spotted 3 different johns (Uncle, roommate and supposed name of police officer, cookies) (Luckily, I found this only in 10% of the book…)
My comment on a group while reading this “Well, right now I'm reading [b:That Boy|11382346|That Boy (That Boy, #1)|Jillian Dodd|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1305572809s/11382346.jpg|16313871]....and well I'm at 40% and for those who have read it...you know what happens at 40%...And I'm at that point that I want to throw it around the room...in a good way, Like I want to throw it and then pick it up again and hug it and tell it that I'm sorry...yeah, I'm a mess."
These little things mightn’t mean much to you, but it helps me keep track of everything…
I guess everyone is lucky, because I had a little bit of a break after reading this book (Because my internet crashed) and now I can’t remember half the things I was going to say, so this review won’t be as hateful as I planned it to be (After I had read it.)
Spoiler Another thing. WHAT THE F*%$#*G HELL!?!?! HER PARENTS DIED!!?!?!! I was soooo mentally drained when I read that 20%. I like read it, cried for three hours walked outside and said, “I’m gonna go to bed…” And I did. It was depressing and not needed. Really. WHAT THE HELL?

Special Mentions:
-When I started this book, I thought, OMG!! There is a picture as the chapter title, that is SO COOL!! *snaps picture of it* I did that for the first couple of chapters…then I got tired and lazy.
-She, like, OMG, talks, like this!!!!!!!!!!! @nd it’$ @ bit @nnoying!!! ???
So, yeah, I think I’m…done?
But, yeah, it had the potential to be a good book…in my opinion, but I liked Danny better towards the end of it.

I loved this book! It was fun and a quick read. I loved how sweet the boys were, yet they had their faults. I loved that things happened in this book and not just towards the end. It was an enjoyable read for the summer.

I appreciate the idea and thoughts that went into writing this book, however I didn’t find the use of time skipping to be effective. A lot of the time, I felt as though we missed very important details. I didn’t love JJ as a character, and I felt as though I wanted more conflict with the love triangle between Phillip and Danny.

DID NOT FINISH: 6%

Reading this through their POV as children for what felt like way too much in a book (it was each chapter thus far) was just not for me.

So cute! So perfect! So wholesome. Had me crying, laughing, and smiling. Such a cute book

My favorite book series of all time. I’ve read them all! I highly recommend!

It was okay...
