it was a v nice read and good if you want to escape for a while. very fun to be involved in the whole adventure but personally wasn’t one of my favourite books. however i’m glad i picked this book to be my first spanish read
This is the only Allende novel I've read and I enjoyed it. City of the Beasts is gripping with some unexpected twists, but also has a classic YA coming of age storyline. The characters are likeable and I was intrigued to know how much of the cultural details were factual. I wished the story had continued a little farther at the end so we could find out if Alexander's mother is cured.
Delightful story, another I wish I could have read in my youth. Donating to my nephew's bookshelf so it's there when he needs it.
Some parts were absolutely beautifully written while others dragged on a bit. I immensely enjoyed the setting in the Amazonian rainforest and the descriptions of the beautiful places the characters come across. Still, somehow I didn’t completely connect to the book, but it was certainly enjoyable.

È il primo libro di Isabel Allende che leggo e mi è piaciuto moltissimo! La storia è molto interessante e ha dei messaggi davvero importanti: combattere le ingiustizie e sconfiggere le proprie paure. La lettura è resa ancora più avvincente grazie ai colpi di scena. Penso che sia un bellissimo libro, lo consiglio!
