It was pretty hard to finish this book. Even if I liked it, I just couldn't sit for hours reading it. It's a nice story, very different to Allende's usual books. It's a story with magic and adventure made for kids, but I just can't imagine a kid reading this story without getting bored
This was fun and in places really great, but also uncomfortable at times especially calling them Indians when they’re indigenous South Americans. This could be the translation though.
It was a great introduction to Allende, though definitely missing the spark from her adult novels.
This is great fun for older kids though and I’m interested to see how the series continues.

it was an okay book...the whole "fantasy in the real world" thing threw me off. the transition from scene to scene was a little disjointed, and it left me confused. I couldn't remember what happened at the beginning and when she tried to relate a earlier scene to a later one i was confused. I thought the story would have been better if fantasy wasn't a part of it, but it was an okay read.
