It's been years since I read this book, but I distinctly remember being immediately drawn into this real-life account of the tragic events of the 1996 climbing expeditions on Mt. Everest, told by Anatoli Boukreev, a guide responsible for leading some of those climbers to safety. It's a great companion book to [b:Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster|1898|Into Thin Air A Personal Account of the Mount Everest Disaster|Jon Krakauer|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1463384482l/1898._SX50_.jpg|1816662], by Jon Krakauer, to get a different perspective on the same events.
