Such a good duology! I get 5 star feeling from it because I will for sure keep thinking of this world and these characters. Maybe not for 100% great reasons
like why did magic in other houses get brought up. We really didn't do anything with that. Or thinking on how cheesy if was to bring Lile back from the dead basically. The house of passion got put on the backburner for sure, even though I thought that would be a plot point of the book. It was still very good besides. The way Ross sets up these worlds, it makes you want to know these people and participate in their lives. Oh but also, why did he have to bring up that he adored her as a child during his proposal? Again, it's giving groomer, its the only icky part, but i ignore it to like the romance šŸ˜…

I did like the first book better a little but this was still a very well done book with the characters I've come to love.

4.5āļø I still stand by the fact that queens rising could have been a stand alone but I loved this so much.

I am a big fan of Rebecca Ross and it was interesting to read her first published duology. The age gap in the romance bothered me a bit, as well as the authority difference(his being her teacher for three years). They seem to have matured into a more equal relationship throughout the books and I wish they hadn’t had the initial relationship of student/teacher. I did like the world building of the passions school and the nods to it in book two. Initially I thought there was no need for a book two but Ross did a good job showing some of the difficulty of setting up a government after a revolution. There were some slow moments, but there were also moments I didn’t want to set the book down. Overall another good read by Ross.
