I absolutely loved THE QUEEN'S RISING and was super excited for this one, so I pre-ordered it right away. Only for it to collect dust for 3 years. But no worries because I read it now!

This picks up right away after the last book, but if it's been a few years between reading them, don't worry! There is a bit of a recap throughout the first 10% to get you up to speed on what is happening, where our characters currently are, and what the next steps are before throwing us into the action of this book.

I thought there was a lot of character growth in both Brienna and Cartier in this book. They have a lot they are dealing with, but always have each other to rely on. Part of the best part of this book is seeing how their relationship continues to strengthen while maturing as the two characters do.

I was excited that this was a duology! Anything more would have been too much and dragged this story on. This had a good mixture of developing relationships and action packed scenes with the plot always moving forward. The ending tied up everything perfectly and I'm very happy with this as a complete series!

Overall, I don’t feel like this story needed to be told, though there were some great moments - especially between Breanna and Aiden/cartier. Loved the first book but felt like this one just didn’t pull me in as much

Part 1, or The Return, is mainly about the next phase of planning for the Queen to have a good coronation while making political allies. The people of Maevana seek justice. Brienna struggles to be accepted by the people of MacQuinn. Part one begins where book one, The Queen's Rising, ends.

Part 2, or The Trial, are the events as the title states with some twists.

Part 3, or The Snare, are the events as the title states. Power plays are made by both sides, those with the Queen and those with Lannon.

Part 4, or The Reprisal is pretty intense and a little graphic.

Part 5, or The Lady of Morgane is the great conclusion to this story, this Duology. This section was heartwarming, countering the intense darkness from previous events in the book.

The theme of this book was at times very dark and intense, revealing more atrocities that have happened under Lannon's rule. I feel this book is on the older side of YA and maybe even NA due to mature topics.

Overall, The Queen's Resistance is very well written.
