A really good sequel !!!! ♥

At first, this book confused me as I previously had concluded that the queens rising was standalone. However I was pleasantly surprised, I loved this. In particular all of these characters are so heartwarming especially Cartier and Brienna. I loved the theme of family and chosen family and also felt like the plot deepened appropriately in the second installment focusing on the political turmoil more. I would have loved for this to be even more complex but seeing as this book is on the shorter side it is not surprising so I am not disappointed in the least.

Once I got past the first couple of chapters of exposition/recapping book one, it was full-on twisty plotty politics. National, international, and inter-personal - just what I like to read in my fantasy.
It's also really nice to see a YA fantasy novel dealing with "What happens AFTER we depose the Evil King?". A book full of "we won, now what?" including counter-revolutions, restorative justice, found family, complicity vs culpability and assorted questions with plenty of secret identities and found family.
I think I actually prefer this to book one
adventurous dark emotional mysterious tense medium-paced

I finally understand why there are whole family trees pictured in the beginning of the book. These families are so complex and intertwined, during the book I constantly had to figure out who is related to whom. The book was great tho: definitely recommend.

This wasn’t as amazing as book 1 mostly because there wasn’t as much mystery around everything. But I still loved it so much. This world is amazing. The characters are everything. The happiness in this book was great.

A daughter of Maevana bows to no king.

I loved this book, even more than the first one! I couldn't put it down. Continuing Cartier and Brienna's story was an amazing decision on Rebecca Ross's part. After finishing the first book, I wanted more from their story and their relationship. THE QUEEN'S RESISTANCE explored their relationship more fully and gave it the challenges it need to grow. I also loved having chapters in Cartier's point of view. I feel like this change was needed for the plot of the book, but also for the reader to connect and understand him more as a character.
The pacing of this book was incredibly active, engaging, and interesting. I find it refreshing that, at the end of book one, Isolde didn't simply become queen overnight. In reality, there would be some resistance. I liked exploring that through this book.
A fantastic sequel to THE QUEEN'S RISING. This sequel will go in the list of "sequels that are better than the first."

I love the world and the dynamics of the world. I really like most of the characters. Some were a little shmaverage as if they were under "Average person of this age" in Wikipedia.

It all kind of just unfolded really quickly though in this book unlike the first which makes some things have less impact however also made the book very easy to read start to finish in a binge cause you were moving through the plot. I am personally not a huge fan of the "everything for her" thing which is why it's not a 4 star.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! It was perfect. But I have to admit that 8-year age difference still creeps me out a bit, but I don’t really care as I had to add Cartier to my book boyfriends list.

DID NOT FINISH

I wanted to love this book because I loved the first, and I almost got all the way through it, but the details of the main character’s torture were too much for me.
