I listened to this book with my dad. Although we both still love the humor. The story was a bigger focus, and although we enjoyed the story, dad felt it was a little too silly and struggled with the stakes. In addition, I felt the problem of the characters having no real motivation or drive beyond random whims really started to show here, as the story constantly had to bend over backwards to justify the characters doing anything. Still, this was a lot of fun, and I’m glad we listened to it together.

It was well structured. Favorite quote: "He wasn't certain whether he had just got space-sikness or religion" and two new favorite colors - Ultra Violent and Infra Dead. Like the other books in this series, this one was easy to follow and tied everything together nicely.

I do wish the characters were more likable and the only female character had an actual personality like the rest of them do, but she seems to be just an accessory, an afterthought. Such a shame, but a common thing for a book written in 1982. Also would be nice if any of them actually liked each other.

This was fun to pick up again. I had a big break in the middle where I didn't read much, but these books are east to jump in and out of.
