I don't even really know how to rate this book. For the most part, it was entertaining, but I feel like I had several issues with it. I have some time, so let's start by discussing Greyson.

Our male protagonist was a 21 year old college student, a hockey player, and the son of a wealthy senator. He hit a girl with his car and managed to avoid going to prison because his daddy had money. He then went on to bully this girl for nearly ruining his hockey career (it wasn't actually ruined), painting her as an obsessive stalker in the press (she wasn't), and then (of course) falling in love with her. In the end, they're so in love that they get engaged, but I expect they'll spend a few more years cutting each other open and engaging in some erotic asphyxiation before filing for divorce.

Being only 21, Greyson's brain isn't fully developed, so I guess that might explain why he's so awful, self-centered, and disgustingly obsessive, but pop off, I guess.

The main character of this story's name was Violet. She wasn't insufferable, but she definitely wasn't my favorite character. Let's just say she made some... questionable choices. I mean, falling in love with the boy who hit her with his car, presumably ruining her dream of becoming a prima ballerina? Questionable. Letting the same boy blackmail and bully her, and then deciding to date him? Questionable. Not calling the police after her apartment was broken into TWICE? Definitely questionable. And then (of course) she stops having nerve pain in her leg after a few rounds of aquatic therapy and is able to dance better than she ever did. Totally makes sense...

Can we also just mention the fact that the ending was abrupt and kind of out of pocket? Just the fact that Mia kidnapped Violet, only to let her go because she truly expected her threat to work. You're threatening the life of a wealthy senator's son??? It's giving delusion. It's giving stupidity. I don't understand. Why did she even kidnap her? I still don't know. She was the WORST villain of all time.

I've decided I detest romances that turn into mystery/thrillers. They're never any good, and this book was no exception. After writing this, I think I'm going to rate this one 2.5/5 stars. I got through it and it was entertaining, but not in a good way. It was like watching a car crash. You just can't look away. The smut was quality, but everything else was gutter trash.

This is my first book by S. Massery and when I tell you I devoured this... I listened to the audiobook and once again Mr. Hamilton did not disappoint. The female narrator did a great job as well.
I really enjoy the authors writing. This was incredibly smutty and detailed but still had a great plot. I didn't guess who Violet's stalker was, well there are technically 2 and I suspected 1 but not the other. This is not going to be for everyone. If pushing the non-con line is problem for you, stay away. The author lets you know that Greyson does not grovel and a bully/revenge romance with no groveling is different. I expected to not like the MMC due to this but I was wrong. Grey doesn't grovel but he defiantly does try to make up for some of what he does in the past. The FMC may give into Grey but she isn't a pushover. I really felt for her when trying to get her ability to dance back. My heart was breaking with her.
The only part I didn't care for was the scene with Violet and Steel. I wish Grey would have realized what he was doing and stopped it.
Overall, I loved this book. You have to remember that this is a book and is FICTION. Would his behavior fly in the real world? NO. That being said I immediately downloaded book 2.

I loved this book so much! I went in completely blind and wasn't disappointed!

Bullying with so many twists! I absolutely loved the direction this book took!

Well I'd definitely say Brutal Obsession was a HEAVY bully romance! I'm giving this a 3.5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 and rounding it up to 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because I love the narration from Teddy Hamilton and Heather Firth. 💛

Greyson is a privileged and entitled young man, and uses his father's sway to get what he wants, no matter the cost. I mean tbh, I questioned whether on not he was going to have any character growth at all, but somehow he did, for the most part. He is obsessive, possessive, and doesn't give af. I mean this guy is so mean the first 1/2, maybe even 2/3 of this book! 🙈 I am a sucker for bully romance though so I'm not hating! I do wish I had seen more groveling from him though tbh.

Violet is a ballet dancer, whose career is ruined by a car accident that shatters her leg. She's also on the schools dance team, and she has just essentially lost everything. I won't lie, she takes a lot of the shit thrown at her in stride and I respect it, especially because she starts to dish it back. Idk, coming from someone who also had plans to dance professionally, I couldn't see myself forgiving the person who shattered my leg and career, but that might just be me. 😅

Overall I enjoyed the book, but there are parts that also just didn't quite hit how I wanted them to. I loved the suspense and mystery part of the plot and I'll definitely be continuing on with the series, I think maybe this one was just missed a few marks for me!

This book was ok, I have heard that the other books in the series are better but this one, I just found it hard to believe that she would fall for someone who destroyed her dancing future. It just felt out of left field but I did love the obsessive “only me and no one else” vibes from the MMC which is why it isn’t a lower rating.

This takes hockey romance to a whole new level!

Hockey. Spice. & Everything not nice.

Grey and Violet have the most twisted romance I’ve ever read and I loved every bit of it.

Highly recommend this dark read. The characters have so much depth and the stalk3r aspect was a big twist for me. How could one girl have so much happening and still come out on pointe?!?!

did I like this? No. Will I be reading the rest of the series? Most likely.

I flew through this book, but I’m still not sure what I just read. There was a lot happening, and somehow, none of it convinced me that these two should be together. The MMC’s behavior? Absolutely not. The attraction? Questionable. The love? Where? This book just wasn’t for me, but at least it kept me entertained.
